Which is better Nikon D60 or D3000?
I do know that d3000 was designed as an entry level model, and it is currently in production. But the d60 is classified as a ‘mid range’ model on wikipedia, but is an older model, as the d5000 was now replaced it.
The Nikon d60 and d3000 is the same price (both NZ00). I just wanted to know which is the better camera for a dslr beginner.
And is Nikon actually the brand of DSLR to go for?
Thanks for your help

I guess Wikipedia is wrong. The "mid-range" Nikon DSLR’s were/are the D70, D70s, D80 and D90 cameras
Here is the list of entry level Nikon DSLR cameras
D40 (still the most popular)
D40x (slight upgrade)
D60 (large upgrade from D40x)
D3000 (Newest entry level Nikon DSLR)
D5000 (Hot new, high featured, but still entry level DSLR)
What makes a Nikon DSLR an entry level camera? The entry level cameras can only auto-focus using AF-S and AF-I lenses. The other AF lenses must be manually focused with those cameras.
If I could not find a new D40 someplace, I would choose the D3000
i would personally either get a d60 or a d5000. the d3000 feels cheap and plasticy, and has little improvement over the d60 which takes excellent photos.
I would recommend Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
