What DSLR Should I Get?
I am a fairly avid photographer but i want to take my profession to the next level. I am looking into getting an entry level DSLR camera and i wanted some suggestions on what to get. I am very focused on iso, megapixel, depth of field, HD video, aperture, and an intervelometer would be nice. Ive heard of the Nikon d5000, Sony NEX5, and Cannon T2i, but wanted a second opinion and suggestions.

The Nikon D5000 and Canon T2i are DSLRs, but the Sony isn’t. It gives similar image quality as a DSLR, but I still prefer a real DSLR due to its ergonomics and faster speed.
Both the D5000 and T2i have great high iso quality and both are capable of shallow depth-of-field pictures with the right lens and technique. If video is one of your top priorities, the T2i is more suited because of its more manual control over video settings, and records in higher definition as well (1080p compared to 720p). Both camera do not feature a built in interalmeter however; you would need to buy an external remote release for that (I’m not quite sure which ones).
You may also want to consider other DSLRs, such as the Nikon D3000, Canon Xs, Canon T1i, and Pentax k-x.
How about NO opinion.
You are going to be living with your choice for the next few decades, so you really have to go into a camera store and hold each of your choices in your hands and see which you like the best.
If you look at the Nikon D3100 instead of the D5000, you will get Full HD and auto-focus in the video mode.
The fact that you mention that pixel count is important to you, you tell us right away that you are inexperienced in the field of photography.
* Nikon has the best low noise at high ISO at this time
* Nikon and Canon both have Full HD video, but only the D3100 can auto-focus when in the video mode
* All cameras use lenses whose aperture you can control manually.
* You will have to call Nikon 800.NIKON-UX or Canon 800.OK-CANON to find out about intervelometer features.
The new Sony NEX series cameras are too now to have much feedback from professional users.
