Bridge Camera vs. dSLR?

I am deciding on whether to get the Panasonic DMC-FZ150 Bridge Camera or a budget entry-level dSLR. I’m more inclined to get the FZ150 because. while it doesn’t have a huge enough sensor to be an SLR, it certainly is on a whole different level than a point and shoot camera (it has full control over PSAM, iso, and manual focus.) While an SLR would of course have these same (or better) options of manual control, what the FZ150 has over the SLR is it can shoot up to 60 pictures in one second at 5MP in its fastest burst shooting (which would be very helpful for shooting fast-paced action.) It also has the 24x zoom (expandable to 50x with a drop in resolution, while preserving quality.) This is something you can not have on an SLR unless you pay ,000+ on a 600mm lens. Also, it can record 1080p video at 60 frames per second (in addition to a 220fps mode at QVGA res), which would be very hard to find on a budget SLR. On the other hand, an SLR would take better quality pictures in low light due to its larger sensor. However, I currently use my phone with it’s tiny sensor as my primary camera and I can take amazingly sharp and professional-looking pictures with it (posted down below), so I can just imagine what I can do with something like a bridge camera with a relatively larger sensor. Like the saying goes, "it’s not the camera, but the person who is holding it."
Tell me what you think. Do you think a bridge camera would be able to take good-looking pictures comparable to an SLR (in bright light)?

Fuji Finepix HS20 HD test/zoom

I bought my girl this camera for her birthday, just making sure the film feature works as my laptop wont me watch it -_- Gay thing :L This what shoot all on the auto mode. From what i read this Camera shoots better then most entry level DSLR. The camera has a 16megapixal CMOS sensor Comes standard with a 30x optical zoom lens which is the same as a 24-700mm DSLR lens, which would cost quite a bit! Although this isn’t a ‘DSLR’ it is possible to add a lens/lenses, the lens screws on to where the lens hood would fit, as long as the add on lens will fit a 54mm thread. This Camera also Shoots Full HD. The features on the Camera are pretty good to from what i read. Leave comments and let me know what you think ?? May save up again to get myself one ;)

I just purchased the Nikon D3100 online from www.cameta.com
The auction I got was a really good deal too! It includes
-The Nikon D3100 camera body w/ the standard 18-55mm lens
-2 Fish eye lens
-16 gigabyte memory card
-memory card wallet
-tripod
-Nikon carrying bag/case
-Screen protectors
-A cleaning kit
and more I think :p
Here’s the exact link I made the purchase from http://www.cameta.com/Nikon-D3100-Digital-SLR-Camera-18-55mm-G-VR-DX-AF-S-Zoom-Lens-61152.cfm
considering the camera with the lens is usually 0+ at Best Buy or any local camera dealership , paying a bit more wouldn’t be that bad since you get all these good extras! Tell me what you guys think. :)

Entry Level DSLR Help!?

I’m 14 and as a late birthday present, my parents decided to get me a DSLR because of my interest in photography. I really didn’t want them to spend too much and I’ve had my eyes stuck on 2 cameras.
The Canon Rebel XS:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CBKJGG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=AHVUXX1NUM5OB Which I will be able to get for 0.

The Fujifilm FinePix S4000: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HO58O8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A29PHU0KPCGV8S Which I can get for 0.

I know most recommend the XS, but what is different about the S4000 other than a non-removable super-zoom lens?

What kind of DSLR camera should I get?

I am going into a entry level college photography class and I need to get a camera. I am a college student so budget is a main issue. Also, thoughts on getting a refurbished camera would be very appreciated. These are the cameras that I have been looking at:

Canon Rebel XS 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black)

Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens

Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR with 18-55mm IS II Lens and EOS HD Movie Mode

Any information will be helpful, Thanks!

What DSLR should I buy?

I’m gonna buy an entry level Digital SLR camera for my art project and just for creating memories. I need it to have good optical zoom and be under £500 (£400 preferably)- that’s 5. I am interested in the Canon Eos D1000 (Rebel XS).

I’ve read nothing but bad reviews about this kit lens. Compared to the 18-55mm kit that comes with the entry-level DSLR, it is not as good, and there is still some hate on the 18-55mm!

Are there any pictures with that lens on a Canon DSLR? Or are they so bad that there aren’t any!?
I have the 18-55mm kit lens. Is the 35-80mm worth getting for ? I think the extra zoom is some help, or would I be better off walking closer to my subject? Because I’m doing an event with a lot of people and I don’t want to get too "in their face".

I’ve asked many similar questions like this, but can I have your feedback on these camera options:

1. Canon Rebel XS (0) plus a Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Zoom Lens (0). 0 total.

2. Nikon D3100 with 18-55mm kit lens and 55-200mm VR zoom lens with bag included (0 package on BestBuy website)

3. Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i 15.1 MP with 18-55mm kit lens (0).

Although choice #2 may seem the most logical, I’ve heard the D3100 is very slow and lags at times. That is a problem I face many Nikon cameras, and I don’t want since it has annoyed me so much in the past.
Just a note, but I’m not just upgrading because I don’t like point and shoot cameras. I have become a great amateur photographer over two years and need a DSLR.
