Something good for sports/high ISO would be preferable. I’m on a low budget here and would rather spend money on better lenses. So the lower the price the better. I really don’t want to get the lowest entry levels though, so no T3 or D3000. I need something with a bit more.
@reportmeplease,
I shoot sports. which means shooting at night. with a shutter speed of 250. and an ISO of 1000.

I’m looking for an entry-level/intermediate level DSLR camera with very high level 1080p video. I was looking on amazon, and the Panasonic dmc-gh1k appealed to me, because of the cheap 0 price, but it seemed odd to me, because it was so cheap. But for a 100 dollars more, I could buy the Nikon D3100.
tl/dr, which camera is more worth the money, and has high-quality 1080p video, the Panasonic Dmc-gh1k, or the Nikon D3100?

I want to upgrade from a fixed-lens Canon G6 to a well-built Canon or Nikon DSLR, and not a budget-level entry-level model.
Don’t want to spend more than about 0 for a camera body — any money past the cost of the body will go toward lenses, flash, filters, etc.
[Not currentlly interested in shooting video, although I suppose the video with the D90 could potentially be considered a bonus.]
Should I get the cheaper 40D, and start investing in Canon’s Lens System [frequently said to be a better-value than Nikon's]?
Or is the D90 worth the extra 0 or so for it’s superior sensor (at least according to dxomark.com)?
Which is the better camera-decision for the money — bearing in mind that the 0 saved by buying the Canon would go toward a prime lens (probably starting with a Canon prime lens in the 35 to 50mm range?
Thanks for your answers!

I am looking to upgrade from my current entry level DSLR. I was thinking of maybe the 550D twin lens kit then buying some more glass. However 2 people I know and the salesman told me the 550D is also only really an entry level camera and they all suggested the 7D,
The trouble is the 7D with one lens is over A00 I feel I could get more for my money with the 550D. I don’t want to have to upgrade again in 12mnths but it’s working out pretty expensive for the 7D.
I am a keen photographer and enter comps etc
Can someone please offer their opinion/advice on which way I should go
thanks in advance
Thanks Keerok. only reason I am upgrading is I get a lot of grainieness especially in low light shots even when bumping up the ISO. I have had it back to the shop they tested it aand got the same thing. the older the camera and more shots i take the worse it is. They eventually sent it away for me and when it came back their support guy told me it actually seems that these cameras are like that. both the &d and 550D are good in low light conditions. part of my confusion is being told the 550D is only entry level and not to bother with it

I am going to be purchasing my first dslr camera, and I need some help.
I want the entry-level Pentax K2000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 DA L Lens and AF200FG Flash, but I want to make sure that it is worth the money.
I really want a good camera, But I want to make sure that this is the right choice. I also want to know if the megapixels count on overall picture quality?
Is 10.2 going to give me a great picture?
PLEASE HELP

I currently have a Canon EOS 500D. Im having trouble deciding which one to do whether to buy a new pair of lens for my canon (for now im planning to buy a 50mm f/1.8) or just save up my money until im able to buy a new nikon DSLR. (D3100 to be exact or maybe a better model if they will release a new one in the the future). sometimes i find nikon’s image quality (like the D5000 and D3100) quite nice compare to my 500D’s capture..regarding on exposure and color saturation. In my opinion sometimes i feel that the capture from my canon 500D doesnt look like it came from a DSLR ,sometimes it looks like it was taken from a regular compact camera..=(..and as i look into the different reviews in the internet about the 500D,they always say that the 500D is inferior compare to other entry level DSLR cameras..the question is: Is my canon 500D already a good camera to invest good lens or should i just shift to nikon?..need your opinion about this guys.. by the way if you are gonna ask i just have a 18-55mm lens kit now.

My parents said that they would buy me a high school graduation present of my choice and I decided that I want a DSLR camera. My question is whether or not a mid-range DSLR or an high-end entry level DSLR (i.e. D90 or Canon T2i) would make a good starter DSLR. I’m taking a year long photography class (and love it!) and I have shot with manual film SLR’s so I have some experience dealing with focus, aperture, shutter speed, etc. Also, I’m not sure if i should buy a entry level DSLR like a Rebel XS or D3100 because in the event that I want to upgrade, I would be spending more money (as a college student I will have to pay for these items myself and spare cash will be hard to come by:[) than if I had bought a higher end camera. Oh and I don’t think there is a defined budget that my parents are willing to spend…thats why I am unable to narrow down my choices by price. Thanks for reading!
I do not think I will be using the video recording functions of the camera very often, and I will be focusing on outdoor subjects; maybe even a little bit of macro too.

I’m just getting into photography, and i’m really feeling the need for a real camera – so far i’ve been shooting on fuji point and shoot, but i need more. So i’ve been looking for a DSLR.
I’ve heard good things about the canon 450D, and the nikon D5000, and i’ve heard a lot of people saying ‘don’t bother with sony’ but is this just snobbery? Sony cameras seem to be a lot cheaper – i can get the entry level sony (i think it’s the 230) for €500, including an 18-55 and a 55-200. in comparison the entry level nikon and canon are around €650-750 with one lense (18-55).
Also, is entry level good enough? or should i get a better model? Price isn’t really an issue, but at the same time i’m not going to waste my money on an expensive camera if a cheaper one does the same job.
If you want an idea of what i shoot, http://khayman82.deviantart.com/gallery/ http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/1052914/viewall and http://www.bigstockphoto.com/profile/afterglow82 have most of my favourites between them
For a bonus point, what lenses would you say i need for these kind of shots? (i’m getting more into modelling and portrait photography)

I’m planning to buy an entry level DSLR
preferable Cannon or Nikon. The ones I have identified are
Nikon D3100
Cannon 500D
Cannon 550D
Nikon D5000
I want more value for money.
My interest is in
1> Nature photography
2> Macro
3> Light
Also suggest me lenses for the above.
If u know some good deal available in India or in USA do suggest it to me.
If there is some other camera that i have missed out then do suggest it to me.

I am an amateur photographer student with little experience and little money. I use a canon a-1 35mm and canon t2i dslr. I am looking to start purchasing basic entry level lighting equipment for a home studio. More specifically I would like to find something cheap that can sync older flashes to my dslr. The flashes are canon speed lite 155a and another one that is older and smaller. I have been looking at sync cords but I dont think those will fit into my new camera nor do i think you can use two at a time. Is it silly to even bother with these old flashes? Or should I save my energy and money for something down the line? The flashes seem powerful enough even with a diffuser so I don’t know.
Any suggestions would be awesome
thanks
Sam
