Should my first DSLR be the D3100 or D90?

I had my mind set on the D3100 but my friend is really against that as he said that it is a really super entry level camera and is not going to do any good in the long run. He asked me to buy a D90 instead. He uses that and I always use his if I had the chance. I really like the D90 and I know it’s really good so now I’m really stuck between these two models.

I know what is ISO, shutter speed and other terms and I just find the D3100 is easier to use as most of the stuff you need to adjust are not embedded in the menu unlike other cameras. I love taking photographs of landscapes, animals, portraits and macro shots.

Should I get the D3100 or D90 as my first DSLR?

Best camera within $ 675 (RS.30000/-)?

I am an armature photographer. I am very much confused over lot of specifications of camera.
I have shortlisted 2 models. 1) Nikon coolpix P500, 2) Canon SX30IS.
Like to know which one is better? The shopkeeper advised me to go for a DSLR. But I think it is not possible for me to invest in additional expensive lances. What is the difference between end level digital compact camera and entry level DSLR?
My budget is within Rs.30000/ (5)
Thank you in advance.

Nikon or Canon (dslr)?

Hello
I’m looking to upgrade from my point and shoot, which i find frustrating because of the lack of customizability (cant manually focus, doesnt work well in low light, overall quality not as good as dslr).
I dont really want an entry level camera because I plan on having my dslr for a long long time. (10 years or so). I think im a decent photographer (and i was told i was good by my photo teacher), even with my point and shoot, so im hoping to expand my skills with a dslr.
Should I get a nikon or a canon? What models should i look at? From the research I have done, i think i heard the nikon D7000 is good, and the canon EOS is good too (not sure which one exactly though haha).

I think im going to take 500 bucks from my parents, as a birthday/college/late christmas gift, and then get a job to make the remainder up. Of course I would like a cheaper camera, but i’m willing to work for a better quality one. I guess it would be good if its not too much greater than 1000 dollars, because I want it before july.
Jereon: Of course I will have to upgrade lenses and some stuff, but the point is that I dont want to get bored of all the features (and want even more customizability) after a year or so.

what DSLR should i get?

I am thinking of getting a DSLR, my first DSLR. I was thinking of spending around £400 for the body and the lens so I am looking at the entry/intermediate level. What models would you recommend? They dont have to be current models, I am interested in second hand cameras as well.
What models are the best for my fairly low budget.
PS, when i say lens i just mean the standard lense that comes with the camera, so 18mm-55mm or so
thanks in advance

NIKON 3100 or CANON T2i/550D?

I narrowed down my options into these 2 entry-level cameras.. torn between these 2. Any suggestions PLEASE..

Considerations: dimensions and weight (for travelling purposes), ease of use, warranty + quality of the product, CAPTURING PHOTOS: YES, VIDEO: not much 6-7/10, price not much of an issue

I need suggestions from users of either of the two or of their previous models..

PS: It’s my first dSLR camera

thanks!!

Good Entry level DSLR Camera?

I am planning on buying a DSLR camera. Right now I have a sony digital camera. I plan to upgrade to a dslr camera very soon. My price range is around 700. The main features I need are: 12+ mp, I do a lot of picture editing and need to be able to zoom in to do precise edits, Full Hd video at 24fps and 30fps, I plan to make movies with it, so I need features to make good quality short films. A range of settings, such as ISO, exposure, white balance(for video), etc. The three main models I am debating between are the: The Nikon D3100, Canon T1i, and Canon T2i, but if there is a better choice for my needs then I am open to that, as long as it is in my price range.

Canon vs. Nikon, rivalry? Why?

I was recently in the market for a new DSLR, and so I went to a local photography shop asking for advice on brands and models, the first guy I talked to told me to have a look at the canon Rebel range, over hearing this, another woker came over, told me Canon was rubbish and that Nikon was the only way to go. YEah, it helped me a lot! So I ended up buying a pentax.
My question is, when and why did this ridiculous rivalry between nikon owners and canon owners start, for entry-levels,a camera is a camera isnt it?!?
SO yeah, if you can give me an actual reason why Nikon/Canon is better than the other, then do so!
Thanks!

what is a good dslr for night shooting?

I’ve been using point and shoot cameras for few years.
I’m thinking of getting a entry level DSLR to mostly shoot night scenes.

These are the models I have in mind,

Pentax K x, Sony Alpha a330, Nikon D3000, and Canon Rebel XS

If I can get Sony Alpha a230 for under 0 is it a good deal? (body + 18-55 lens)

I’d like to spend under 700 for a camera and lenses. What is most user friendly? I’m VERY new to DSLR’s so I don’t know which ones are best. Please give specific models if possible. Thanks!
Thanks for all the answers…they are all great!
