I am a college student, majoring in art photography, and I’m trying to figure out what the next camera I should get should be. Right now I have a Canon Rebel k2 slr, and my Dslr is a Canon Xsi. Both very much entry level.
I got my K2 I believe at the beginning of my sophomore year of high school, so I’ve had it for almost 4 years. My Xsi I’ve had for almost 2 years. I am starting to save up for a new dslr and film slr because I am going to be getting into more advanced photography classes for my major and will soon need to start building up my portfolio to submit for portfolio review to get into the BFA at my school.
Just so you have an idea of my future plans as a photographer and what I’m into, I prefer working with film, which is why mostly I need to figure out which film I should get, and I already know what digital im getting next. I don’t do that much action photography, I see myself mostly getting a little into photojournalism, but mostly in constructed work, performance art, and portraiture. I also need to stick with Canon because it’s all I’ve used, it’s the only lenses I have, and I am just so much more drawn to what canons produce aesthetically.
When I get a new film slr, I want it to be really good quality. It needs to travel with me through the rest of college (4+ more years), and even after, and needs to help me produce the kind of professional work I will be striving for.
I am open to any price range, so if you answer, let me know what price range your suggestions are in. If you have any experience with more professional canon slr’s, let me know about it, especially if you have a flickr where I could see some examples. Send me the link!
I would greatly appreciate anybody’s input, gotta start saving up!
Remember, I’m an art student and will be doing professional work, so it needs to be high quality!
Thanks so much!!

Pentax K100d Super or Canon Rebel T2?

I am debatting on geting a SLR or a DSLR. Apparently the Pentax K100d Super is a really good beginners camera and it has that anti shake, but the Canon Rebel K2 is suppose to be a good entry level SLR. Im confused. Should i start off by learning with a K2 or should i get the Pentax K100d?
