I’m looking for opinions and advice as to the best dslr camera and basic lenses for a beginner,ie… someone with no dslr experience.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Trying to stick to a ,000 min to ,500 max budget.

When I was starting I got the D5000 (not 5100) with the kit 18-55 lens. As stated above the best thing you’ll do is invest in some more lenses. If I were you I’d go a second hand D5000 (from a reputable dealer with a warantee) buy some lenses for it, e.g. a 50mm 1.8 and possibly a wide angle, i have used an excellent one which I think was about 12-18? (also used with warantee) and get a tripod. lenses really depend on what you’re going to shoot though. The most important thing is that you learn about photography, there is some useful information on the net but its hard to come by. Langfords books are a good start. (buy it from amazon)
here’s a useful tab i have open also http://camerasim.com/camera-simulator/
Go to your local camera shop and try out the Nikon D3100 & D5100 Canon T3 & T3i. The 18-55 kit lenses are good lenses to start out with. Regardless of what body you buy, you should also consider getting these things – a 50mm 1.8, a spare battery, 2 or 3 spare memory cards, a weatherproof camera bag, filters, etc etc. But before buying anything, pick up a basic photography book or two from the library and spend some time with them.
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS ANSWER: Canon Rebel T3i is the best entry level in my opinion because as a beginner you are going to grow into a camera very quickly but you don’t want to outgrow it, so if you are serious about learning photography, you should get this camera so you won’t have to upgrade so quickly. If you aren’t so serious, I would recommend you getting a Canon T3. As for lenses you want a good standard zoom so your best bet is to AVOID the 18-55mm and get a 18-135mm. You could basically use it for everyday use. A nice portrait lens is the inexpensive 50mm f/1.8. get it on amazon
