I currently own a Nikon D3000… but after having owned a Canon Rebel XTi before, I never really liked the way this one felt in my hands. Well, I’m selling it and I plan to go back to Canon. I want to buy a dSLR that will carry me through a good bit of my ‘career’, I’m over the ‘entry-level’ dSLR’s. I do know how to work my camera in Manual mode and want to use the camera I purchase next for a long time.
My budget varies. I’m working with roughly 00 right now.
Also, I have two 35mm Canon SLR lenses… will they work with a newer model DSLR? They are the Quantaray (for Canon AF it says) 28-90mm 3.5-5.6 and a Quantaray AF 55-200 4-5.6
About the lenses… I’m not too worried about whether or not they are perfect. I found them in the attic of an old house I was helping to clean out before a remodel. I was able to keep them. I don’t have to have them.
My focus right now is buying a good body to work with. I already have plans for a 50mm 1.4 lens. And another with slightly more range than the kit lens. I keep forgetting what the mm are on it though.
I’m looking at getting an entry level DSLR. The Nikon D3000 and the Canon EOS Rebel XS are available at identical price points. Both cameras have a lot in common, but Nikon’s 11-point AF, larger screen, Active-D lighting, and slightly longer battery life (550 shots per charge vs. 450 for Canon) have me leaning that way.
I suppose the lack of Live View on the monitor are a downside for the Nikon, but I can’t imagine not preferring to use the viewfinder with an SLR anyway.
Anyone have an opinion that can talk me out of the Nikon and into the Rebel?
I am looking for an entry level DSLR camera. Preferably not over 0 dollars. I take a lot of landscape photos (so good-quality photos) but I also do portraits and some sport stuff. I would like to have video on it and image stabilization is practically a must. I have a more advanced point and shoot (Canon SX200 IS), and can use manual settings but I like using easy settings sometimes too. Any recommendations?
P.S. the cheaper the better.
Also I would like a camera that is compatible with other brand lenses.
I’m looking for a dslr now because compacts don’t seem to do the job. I was looking into the two cameras, canon 1000d and nikon d3000. I’m not sure if live view is really that important but it is useful. what would people say is better? I’ve tested the 1000d in the shop but it’s such a small screen. oh and I’m into grainy images but like a mix of sharp as well, but not ready to do film yet so thinking about attaching a Helios 44m lens anyway. However that’s besides the point I’m looking for one I can take abroad and to gigs and festivals. I was maybe considering the canon 450d due to it’s advancements but it’s so much to spend on a entry level camera! I’ve done tons of research (over 3 months worth) and have hit a wall! can anyone help me? Or even advise me?

I am looking to buy myself a DSLR to and i have been doing a lot of looking around to find a good one but was looking for some tips or ideas what to specifically look for.
As a beginner i am not looking to spend loads on loads of fancy stuff that i wont know how to use and i am not going to be doing it professionally so no need for super fancy stuff. And im not going to pretend that i know anything much either.
I am just looking for a beginner entry level DSLR that will give good quality pictures as i will mainly be doing wildlife and taking pics at music gigs so preferably needs to take good pictures in dark conditions. Also i do a lot of videoing of myself vlogging and playing guitar for youtube as well as a lot of skate videos, so it would also be good if it could take some good quality videos.
I would like to keep it under about £450 if possible although i don’t know if that would be possible. I have don’t quite a bit of stuff with my dads Canon 550d and that was been perfect for what i have been doing, but obviously that is a bit expensive, so what would be the next best thing??
