Hello.. still trying to settle on which camera will be my first dslr. The info I’ve researched and the advice I’ve gotten have pointed me to the nikon 3100. I’ve also heard good things about the olympus e620. One thing that concerns me is this: someone warned me the nikon 3100 does not have image stabilization. How much of a problem is this? does this mean I will be a slave to the tripod (I want to avoid this!!) Does anyone have a better suggestion for a high-quality entry level dslr (my usage is mostly nature/landsacpe photos and some sports)? Thanks so much

Hi, I know this is kinda short notice but boxing day is on Sunday and I was just wondering what the best DSLR is for someone that is somewhat new to photography. (Gotta love the Canon Digital ELPH’s lol) I can probably get a good deal on any camera but one deal at Best Buy stands out and that is the Canon T1i. For 0 you get the camera with a standard lens. There is also a deal at Futureshop which is the Canon Rebel XS for 0 but this one comes with a 75 – 300 MM lens as well as the standard one. So I was just wondering which one I should go for. Also please feel free to make any suggestions to other cameras I should be looking for. thanks!

I have a point and shoot camera, but I’m looking to upgrade to a dlsr. I shoot in low light very often and I don’t use flash so low noise is very important. Which Canon or Nikon is the least noisy? I’m most interested in those two brands, but I am willing to consider the other brands as well.

I am an amateur photographer. I understand some entry level DSLR like Nikon D3000 have the ISO range of 100-1600 with boost 3200, while the higher end DSLR like Nikon D300 have the ISO range of 200-3200 with boost of 100-6400. Now I do understand what ISO is, but what I don’t understand is what is boost feature? Why didn’t the higher end cameras ISO ranges started with 100?

Second question about ISO: I understand ISO measures the sensitivity of light entering the sensor in the carera. The lower ISO = less light, thus less noise. From my previous SLR film cameras they have ISO 50, why won’t the new DSLR have ISO that is lower than a 100?
