Nikon D80, Olympus E510 or Canon 450D?

I have been doing photography for 8 years now, albeit in a sporadic way. I am considered to have promise and be a good photographer by those who have seen my work. I would like, in time, to make money from this.

I had a Nikon D200 before, but sold it off with the lenses, as it was too heavy for me to carry around daily.

I like the Olympus, but have heard it has an inferior chip, plus it is an entry level dslr which kind of puts me off.

I love Nikon’s build quality, but the D80 is still a fairly heavy camera.

The Canon felt good in my hands, the same as the Olympus, but I hate the plasticky feel of it.

Any recommendations?
I do a lot of portrait and nature photography.

Pentax K-7 as a first DSLR?

If you learned how to use it, like if you read the manual, can it be just as good to learn as an entry level one?

I was looking at it, and the K-x as well, and to me, they aren’t that different, for me to want to upgrade from a K-x to a K-7, so I was just thinking of getting the K-7 directly, would that be a good idea?

The K-7 has a lot of stuff I want over the K-x, but I don’t think the image quality would be any different.

The features I’m talking about is, the ability to embed copyright into the file, the HDMI port, interval timer, the horizon level indicator, the external mic port, the ability to fix distorted images, etc…

the only thing the K-x has over the K-7 is the ISO level. I’d also be worried about the auto scene mode the K-7 lacks, but I could just use the green mode or Program mode right?

Please tell me if the K-7 has these accessories: underwater housing (not the plastic bag ones), hook up for a telescope, and a battery grip that can take AA batteries.

little bonus question here, with the different scene modes, that the K-x has, what are the settings the K-x automatically puts the camera to for each one? If I got the K-7, I’d like to know that, so I could set the camera to those settings manually.

sorry for the essay, but I want to get all my questions over with.

you might say if I seem THIS confused that I should go for an entry level DSLR, but I really am willing to read the manual over and over if I have to.

What do MP have to do with in photography?

I currently have a point and shoot HP 7.0 MP digital camera. I am just starting to look at DSLRs because I want to upgrade. I am looking for clearer pictures that have a more professional look. I have heard the Nikon D40 is a good entry level DSLR, but it is only 6.1 MP. Someone told me MP had to do with picture clarity; would this mean the Nikon D40 pictures would be less clear than my point and shoot pictures? It doesn’t make sense to me. So basically, what do MP have to do with as far as how the photo looks?
I don’t like the D3000 because it doesn’t have live view. The D40 is still on Nikon’s website so I assumed it was still being sold..

Looking for help about DSLRs?

I’ve been using point and shoots for a little while now, and I want to upgrade sometime soon to an entry level – intermediate DSLR because I feel that my current camera is restricting what I want to shoot etc.
I’m definitely going for Canon or Nikon, I’ve only been using Canon, so that might affect my choice. I’m not too bothered by budget at the moment.

I was wondering whether anyone could tell me roughly tell me a few model names?

Nikon D3000 DSLR Unboxing

Unboxing video of the Nikon D3000 DSLR… This is a great entry level camera perfect for beginners. Hope you enjoy the video!

Nikon D5000 or Canon Rebel XSi?

Between these two cameras, which one is the better choice for a beginner? I know about the D3000 and XS and all the others, but I want an upper-entry level DSLR. So any suggestions would help. Thanks a lot!

Samsung NX10 or Canon 1000D?

i’ve been doing a lot of research on which entry level DSLR i should get, andi was going to to get the 1000D next week but i just came across the NX10…. i haven’t found a lot of reviews on the performance of the NX10 so i was wondering if i could get some opinions suggesting whether or not i should keep to the 1000D or should really take the NX10 into real consideration??

I am a beginner in photography but I need to know which Nikon DSLR to buy.
The D40 and D60 isn’t available anymore, so I am left with the D3000, 5000, and 90.
The 3000 and 5000 are entry level cameras, but I heard the 3000 sucks a lot, so I’m not sure if I should buy that one.

1. Should I go with the 90, 3000, or 5000?
2. Also I want to achieve bokeh, but will that mean I should buy the 35mm f/1.8 OR 50mm f/1.8 lens, too? Or does the regular lens that is provided already create bokeh?

Here are examples of what I mean when I want bokeh:
a) D3000: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leighalouise/4688601502/
b) D80 (I cant find this camera anywhere, so will the D90 be the same in order to get this kind of picture?): http://www.flickr.com/photos/leighalouise/4368593531/
c) D80: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leighalouise/4501035529/

Thanks!

^^^^^that picture really looks nice, though, and its taken with a 3000! So now I am really unsure about which to get.

Guide on how to do a Canon 350D Teardown

In this video, we aim to show everyone what’s inside a Canon 350D DSLR. So, we challenge Kai to do a teardown of this entry-level DSLR that was the predecessor to the 400D, 450D, 500D and now 550D. But there’s a little twist in the challenge. Find out what happens in this video.

hello,

I received the canon 50d as a Christmas present. However I am in the very beginning stages of photography and this will be an upgrade from a point and shoot camera that i’ve owned for 2 years. I am wondering if I should exchange this 50d for a lower model such as the canon rebel ti or perhaps a nikon. any suggestion about the camera and if its something I should hold on to and just learn how to use it or step down several grades and start from an entry level dslr?
thank you so much!
